Bombo is reshaping the music industry by leveraging blockchain and NFT technology to combat ticket fraud in the electronic music community, ensuring transparency and security while turning each ticket into a unique NFT for traceability and resale on platforms.

Beyond ticketing, Bombo aims to be a hub for the electronic music community, fostering interaction among DJs, producers, and enthusiasts through customizable profiles, event updates, and news. Their vision includes GenAI for producers' social platforms and immersive "in-show" experiences, enhancing real-time interaction with artists.

Bombo is transforming ticketing and shaping a vibrant, connected electronic music community where new artists can emerge.

The Challenge

Bombo embarked on the challenge of uniting diverse individuals with a shared passion for DJs and events to build a dynamic community. In order to do so, the client required a finely-tuned recommendation system that catered to both artists and their followers, aka “bombers”. This system, like those on other social media platforms, had to consider crucial variables like listening history, event attendance, and platform connections.

As a new startup, Bombo faced an additional hurdle: limited data, which made devising effective strategies for recommendations a tougher task. The founders envisioned Bombo as a supportive space for emergent artists struggling against the industry’s high entry barriers. The recommendation system also aims to be a guiding force for up-and-coming talents.

However, the challenges continued after the recommendations. The founders aimed for a more ambitious second track – creating a dynamic and engaging space akin to social media. This involved building a news feed from scratch, offering a hub where bombers could stay connected, stay informed about the latest in the music scene, and track the activities of their friends and favorite artists.

At its core, the primary challenge for the second track lay in understanding the user base deeply enough to consistently deliver content that captured their attention and sustained their interest in the platform. It went beyond encouraging them to share experiences; it was about fostering the growth of the user base. Unraveling preferences and truly comprehending what engaged users presented significant data challenges. Simultaneously, the technology required to uphold a personalized news feed for each user demanded a sophisticated architecture capable of near-real-time responses. Bombo

The Solution

Our team of experts and high-performance #DataNerds successfully designed and implemented an impactful recommendation system and social media newsfeed from the ground up.

To achieve this, the project involved establishing a robust foundation for data collection, filtration, and consolidation. This framework aimed to provide a comprehensive 360-degree view of the customer, facilitate the creation of KPI dashboards, and enable the measurement and analysis of key marketing actions. As part of the initiative, we constructed a dedicated data warehouse tailored to the company's current and future needs.

For building the recommendation system, various techniques and tools were employed including:

  • Machine learning models to identify shared preferences among users
  • Pattern matching algorithms to effectively discern common preferences
  • MLOps flow to adapt and improve the recommendation system swiftly

For building the newsfeed different techniques and tools were utilized including:

  • User-specific news valuation scorecards
  • Real-time event system to promptly process user interactions, ensuring immediate updates on followers' news feeds

The Impact

The introduction of a proficient and impactful recommendation system, along with the introduction of the brand-new social media news feed, has empowered Bombo to actively

  • Increase the average number of artists followed by users from 6 to 14
  • Track essential KPIs agilely, measuring and analyzing the impact of different marketing campaigns
  • Increase their user base by 12% in 6 months
  • Daily Active Users: Increased by 23%

This implementation has given Bombo the foundational pillars upon which to build and effectively grow its social network and a robust data warehouse and architecture upon which to scale.
